In the past year there have been two elections that seem to have caused a lot of controversy, stirred up passion among the general public and caught the imaginations of many people.
People were left wanting change, they had hope that things would be better, that their vote counted.
I must admit I was caught up in this same hysteria. A black man was voted in as President of the most powerful country in the world, the same country that denied his race so many rights not all that long ago.
Yes this is a great leap for society, but will it bring the change that was promised? Will the power behind the scenes not continue to flourish as normal? Those with vested interested, will their coffers not continue to swell at the expense of the general public?
This is all just a false front.
You may think I’m crazy, but this isn’t a conspiracy, this ‘democracy’ we hold so dear, is nothing more than a place for big business to thrive. C.E.Os and world leaders are in each others pockets. Doesn’t anyone find anything wrong with this? The people we trust to shape the world are the one’s who have vested interests in the very things that are destroying it.
I just hope I live to see the day when ‘change’ is something more than a catch phrase for the same old crooks under a different disguise.
Yeah, you can vote however the fuck you want, but power still calls all the shots. And believe it or not, even if (real) democracy broke loose, power could/would just “make the economy scream” until we vote responsibly
